The Saddle Road
This road runs between Hilo and the road that connects back to the Kona Coast. It's about 60 miles of twisty roads climbing
from near sea level in Hilo to about 6500 feet at Mauna Kea. The temperature was in the high 70's when we left Hilo and dropped to the
50's by the time we got near Mauna Kea. This road runs between the two tallest volcanoes on the island, which are Mauna Kea to the north
and Mauna Loa to the south. We drove in sunshine, then fog (the clouds, actually), drizzle and near bone chilling cold. There was
nothing out there with us but miles and miles of lava fields. This trip on the motorcycles was definitely my personal highlight of our trip!
We were up in the clouds when this photo was taken of me. I was loving every moment of it. Memories.. :-)
