Another year and another different presentation of the Fort Lauderdale Beach Air and Sea Show for 2004.

This year, there was some Navy presence off the coast, but not very much. We got to see the USS Enterprise and its carrier group steaming northward towards its homeport in Norfolk, Virginia.

The Marines did invade the beach, again, as they have done in previous years, last year not being one of those years. The show had a bit of a somber mood to it, as Ian Groom had been killed the day before practicing for his act. The promoters went on with the show, but there were several references made about his accident and several acts were dedicated to him. There were a couple of bouys in the water marking where his plane had crashed into the sea on Friday and will remain until Monday, after the show is over.

As always, I did enjoy the show. I've always stayed on the beach in previous years, but due to poor planing on my part and the hotels jacking up their rates, I only went over for one day. So this time, I didn't get to see any F117's, B1B's or A10's, but just about everything else that can fly, did fly on Saturday.

If anyone knows anyone that can get me up on the top of the Holiday Inn on the corner of A1A and Sunrise, I sure would appreciate any influence you would care to extend towards me. Every year, I see a group of photographers on the roof and would just about give anything to be up there with them taking photos. What a perfect vantage point for taking photos.
